Dr. Zoe Edelstein is the Director of the HIV Epidemiology Program at the NYC Health Department. She is a trained epidemiologist who has been working in sexual health for almost 20 years. She received her master's and PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Washington and completed post-doctoral training at the HIV Center. She has been working at the NYC Health Department since 2013, first as Unit Director of Research and Evaluation in HIV Prevention, where she worked on projects related to access and equity in HIV testing, PrEP, and PEP. She continues to be very interested in those areas. Now, as Director of the HIV Epidemiology Program, she oversees the units—partnering with 150 staff—who conduct HIV surveillance, partner services and linkage to care, data systems support and development, supplemental HIV surveillance, and special studies to support our understanding of HIV epidemiology in NYC.
