About the Center

Cores

The P30 Center grant brings together 49 faculty members and provides support for five distinct yet complementary Cores:

  • The Administrative Core, directed by Robert H. Remien, Ph.D., provides interdisciplinary leadership for scientific rigor, strategic planning, internal and external programmatic evaluation/oversight, and sound fiscal management.

  • The Development Core, directed by Claude Ann Mellins, PhD is responsible for implementing the HIV Center Pilot Studies Program; coordinating internal research quality assurance; ensuring capacity-building for ESIs; overseeing HIV Center rounds, and bringing ethics expertise to our work for equitable public health policy and practice.

  • The Statistics, Data Science, and Data Management (SDM) Core, directed by Martina Pavlicova, Ph.D., provides expertise in cutting-edge statistical analysis; use of qualitative, quantitative, mixed-method, and digital strategies for observational, intervention, and implementation science research; and rigorous data collection, management, and harmonization. 

  • The Clinical Translation Core, co-directed by Susan Tross, Ph.D., and Michael Yin, M.D., advances the behavioral and biomedical science research necessary for implementation and use of biomedical strategies for HIV prevention and treatment. 

  • The Health Equity Core, co-directed by Milton Wainberg, M.D., and Dustin T. Duncan, ScD. promotes intervention and implementation research to identify and reduce disparities in HIV prevention and care by applying behavioral and social science methods that prioritize community-based designs, participatory research, and innovative technologies.
